Caron Eyre

Registered Nurse

Caron is a previous Director of Nursing and Deputy Chief Nurse at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital. She qualified as an adult nurse in 1989 and as a paediatric nurse in 1992, she is also a Nurse Tutor and studied Advanced Clinical Practice at MSc level. She is the current Chair of the Association of British Paediatric Nurses and was previously the Deputy Chair of the Association of Chief Children’s Nurses. She has an expert understanding of nursing care and health care provision in acute provider services.

She has worked in many clinical roles including paediatric intensive care, liver and kidney transplant services, and is experienced in renal and urology nursing, as well as more general nursing experience. She held several clinical leadership roles before moving into senior and Director level management roles. She has an extensive clinical background and the ability to work at a strategic level. In 2018 she was given a Chief Nurse (England) award for nursing excellence. 

Caron was responsible for strategic leadership to the quality agenda in a specialist acute provider trust being accountable for the quality agenda in its entirety from patient experience to risk management and regulatory compliance. Her portfolio included PALS and complaints, quality of nursing care, bereavement and end of life care, management of serious incidents requiring investigation, legal services, and risk management. She has had a full career in the NHS and is now applying her extensive knowledge and skills to a medico-legal career.
