Michelle is a Registered General Nurse with over 35 years of experience across the NHS, private healthcare sector, and care industry. She has extensive expertise in all aspects of spinal cord injury management, as well as orthopaedic trauma and pain management. Having previously worked as a Continence Nurse Specialist, Michelle possesses specialist knowledge in the management of bladder and bowel dysfunction, stoma care, and complex continence needs.
Her clinical background enables her to oversee and coordinate large, multidisciplinary care packages for individuals with complex injuries and long-term conditions, ensuring that care is tailored to support rehabilitation, independence, and quality of life.
Her case management work includes Immediate Needs Assessment reports, specialist assessments, care and rehabilitation planning, progress reporting, discharge planning and the co-ordination of multidisciplinary teams. She also has extensive care agency experience, including senior clinical and management roles with Active Assistance and Allied Healthcare.
As an Expert Witness, Michelle draws on her nursing and case management background to prepare logical and well-reasoned Part 35 reports. Her recommendations cover care packages, therapy input, equipment, housing adaptations, transport and vocational support with the aim of enabling individuals to achieve the best possible quality of life.
Michelle has worked as an Expert Witness with Fiona Johson Ltd for over two years and has completed over 20 CPR reports, completing reports on cases involving complex spinal injuries, orthopaedic conditions, cancer, continence issues and other medical conditions. Trained in medico-legal concepts such as but for scenarios and detailing care needs resultant from the injury separate from pre-existent comorbidities.
