Lucy is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 20 years of experience in clinical practice. She has worked in a range of settings including nursing homes, private neurological rehabilitation, mental health and learning disability supported living, mental health and drug and alcohol in both hospitals and community settings.
Lucy is currently in self-employed practice as an Independent Health Care Consultant. The role includes assisting private healthcare providers with CQC readiness, supporting and mentoring managers and nurses in regards to regulatory compliance. She is in practice with HC One Care Provider, working as Quality Assurance Manager conducting mock CQC inspections, reviewing comprehensive documentation and writing reports based on that evidence as to standards of practice and providing recommendations for improvement where necessary.
Throughout her career, Lucy has over 15 years of experience handling disciplinaries within the nursing workforce; she has undertaken many investigations, been involved in hearings and appeals, providing referrals to the NMC where necessary. She has provided evidence for tribunal panels and is professional in the presentation of her reasoned opinions.
Lucy is in the process of co-authoring a book aimed at nurses in the care sector regarding risk assessments and care planning.

Lucy accepts instructions to comment assess and comment on nursing, rehabilitation homes, supported living environments and domiciliary care requirements for individuals with any acquired brain injury ranging from catastrophic care packages to support to maintain independence.

Lucy’s current practice focuses on regulatory compliance. She has a detailed understanding of the standards of nursing practice within a range of clinical and domiciliary settings. She has undertaken hundreds of investigations as to whether nurses upheld their duties in practice pursuant to NMC guidance, NICE guidelines and CQC regulations.
Lucy has worked as a nursing mentor for 20 years, she has experience of supporting and developing nurses new and returning to practice. She has helped develop learning tools, policies and procedures used in community, hospital and social care settings to ensure nurses adherence to clinical standards of practice.
