Zoe McCallum currently works as the Head of Care for Jewish Care. She is a Registered Mental Health Nurse with over 30 years’ experience; she is an advocate for health and social care and has vast knowledge in implementation of high-level, strategic, improvements to the quality of  lives of others. 

Zoe has undergone extensive medico-legal training and understands her duties pursuant to CPR Part-35. She accepts instructions to undertake reports regarding:

Care and loss of service

Zoe’s specialism lies in elderly care and people living with dementia, as well as mental health and psychiatric disorders. She has vast experience of undertaking functional assessments pursuant to the Care Act 2014 and the construction and ongoing management of care packages, as well as provision of aids, equipment and technology to enhance independence.

In Zoe’s current role, she is responsible for all care homes in Jewish Care, undertaking assessments and ensuring the quality of care provision provided. She can apply this comprehensive experience to her medico-legal work and is proficient in the assessment and production of detailed, reasoned recommendations for care needs.

Liability

Zoe undertakes detailed assessments and investigations to ensure regulatory compliance. She undertakes investigations into care practices and HR matters, is involved in the disciplinary and appeal process and has a role in the identification of poor care practice.

Zoe is integral in managing any Provider concerns raised by the local authorities and CQC. She investigates the concern and puts together outcomes to ensure confidence in the care provision. When resident, staff or family complaints are received, Zoe assesses and puts together detailed plans to deal with these in line with regulatory standards.

Zoe manages a vast team with varying levels of experience and regularly oversees staff to ensure that safeguarding is met. She coaches and mentors a wide range of individuals, including management level employees, as to reasonable standards of practice and ensures that these are met.

Zoe has a comprehensive understanding of the reasonable standard of practice in a range of environments, including care homes, domiciliary care, safeguarding settings. She is proficient in review of detailed records and can apply legal principles to come to reasoned conclusions as to liability.
