Clinical Lead / Director

Fiona is an NMC registered Nurse with clinical and managerial experience in the NHS, private and business sector. She qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1985 and worked in a number of clinical and managerial roles in hospitals in Manchester. She has also undertaken independent case management and Healthcare consultancy work since leaving the NHS and worked with children, adults with brain injury, MCS, spinal cord injury, respiratory disease, pain conditions, mental health, amputation and end of life care. She understands and can make recommendations for care provision within services and the community/ home settings.

She is the founder and director of Fiona Johnson Ltd of which she is the Clinical Lead. She is supported by an employed legal/administration team and the clinical board with a membership of clinical colleagues which oversees the governance/ learning and development of new associates, quality and safety. Fiona supports development and mentors a number of experienced clinicians starting to undertake medico legal work.

As an expert witness she has established a significant practice in high value catastrophic injury claims. Fiona has undergone formal training in the medico-legal process and is fully aware of responsibilities under the Civil Procedure Rules (CPR) pertaining to Expert Witnesses. Fiona has given oral evidence in court on a number of occasions, attends conferences and joint discussions and has prepared over 1200 liability and Quantum reports instructed by claimants and defendants.

Associate Coordinator

Eleanor joined Fiona Johnson Ltd over two years ago and provides essential support to our team of expert witnesses. Eleanor is the main point of contact for newly recruited and existing associates in relation to compliance.

She assists with the recruitment of new associates and helps them to build their expert witness practice, monitoring their progress and ensuring they are compliant, and adhere strictly to deadlines and to the medico-legal competencies required of them.

Eleanor is responsible for oversight of associate progression in their role. She ensures that our self-employed associates have regular reviews to maintain compliance and set goals to progress and develop their Expert Witness practice.

Eleanor works closely alongside the clinical board and has an important role in the development of policies to support our experts uphold high standards of practice and in maintaining the five interconnected elements of the FJL Associate Development Programme, ready reference guides, mentorship, redacted reports, learning manual and MS Teams programme.

She also manages associates’ diary commitments, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with deadlines, and advises on our terms and conditions, compliance, and data protection.

Quality Assurance Coordinator

Megan has worked at Fiona Johnson Ltd for over 18 months. Megan is a Trainee CILEX Paralegal currently undertaking the CPQ.

She currently assists Fiona and other senior associate mentors with coordinating the quality assurance of our reports.

Megan is responsible for providing guidance to the associates in relation to their Part-35 duties and assisting to ensure compliance with the Civil Procedure Rules; providing reminders to our associates about their objective duty to the Court, assisting to point out potential legal issues and risk factors in all evidence provided throughout the lifetime of the Claim.

Megan can advise on financial related queries, compliance or queries regarding both our standard terms and conditions and terms and conditions engaging individual firms in each case.

She also manages associates’ diary commitments, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with deadlines, and advises on our terms and conditions, compliance, and data protection.

Alongside her role for Fiona Johnson Limited, Megan works in an administrative capacity for a practicing Kings Counsel Barrister, giving her a valuable and holistic approach to expert witness training, guidance and CPR compliance.

Business Coordinator

Amy is responsible for ensuring that all enquiries relating to new and existing business are handled promptly and efficiently. She conducts detailed risk assessments to ensure each enquiry is allocated to the most appropriate associate, taking into consideration deadlines, as well as the experience, expertise, and availability of each of our associates.

Amy will escalate any potential clinical or legal issues and works closely with instructing parties to ensure a bespoke solution is found and implemented.

Amy works closely alongside the Associate Coordinator supporting newly recruited associates with establishing their expert witness practice. She also manages associates’ diary commitments, with a strong focus on ensuring compliance with deadlines, and advises on our terms and conditions, compliance, and data protection.

Amy has worked in the legal sector since 2017. She was previously a Paralegal in a Claimant firm and more recently, an Office Manager at a criminal defence firm.

Administration Team

Our administrative team are available to assist with any queries in relation to how we are managing your case with our Associates.  They can assist with associate availability and general queries.

The team are responsible for day-to-day file handling, compliance with GDPR requirements as per our privacy notice, associate diary management.

The team provide valuable assistance with report production, document organisation and work undertaken throughout the lifetime of the claim.
